PSYCHOBIOTICS – A term coined by Ted Dinan, a psychiatrist at the University of Cork, Ireland.
Improving one’s flora in the gut via “good” bacteria appears to have positive benefits on one’s mental health (e.g. reducing anxiety, depression, inflammation; improving metabolism, digestion, immunity).
Increasing one’s prebiotics (i.e. dark chocolate) & probiotics (i.e. sauerkraut, yogurt) may play a pivotal role in good mental health.
Dark Chocolate, anyone?
